The Titmus v Ledecky battle had turned into a brutal war of attrittion with the Aussie revealing she barely slept a wink after slugging it out with Ledecky in Monday morning’s 400m final, while the US star has faced an incredible schedule also juggling the 1500m — an event she backed up for to win gold later on Wednesday.
“It is a remarkable performance and as we kind of reflect on what Ariarne’s been able to achieve, there was - at the 100m I have to say I was a bit concerned at how far she was behind,” Aussie swimming legend Ian Thorpe said in commenatory.
