Shoppers on social media have been left baffled after spotting how much a bottle of the cupboard staple costs.
Tesco shoppers online have been left stunned after spotting just how much the supermarket is charging for a bottle of olive oil.
One baffled shopper responded: "I know! Went to get some and the one I usually get was twice the price I paid two months ago. What the actual heck?? Meanwhile, others suggested shopping elsewhere for cheaper prices. One such shopper wrote: "Try shopping at Aldi. Great Olive Oil & much cheaper than Tesco."However, the original poster, responded to one shopper to claim that a bottle of olive oil in her local Lidl was priced at £6.49. Others agreed that they had also noticed higher prices at the budget supermarket.
A Tesco spokesperson told WalesOnline: "Our own-brand Olive Oil starts at £3.30." The British Retail Consortium has also been approached for comment.
