Texas A&M football position analysis: Linebackers
: Andre White Jr. , Ish Harris , Tarian Lee Jr.Texas A&M a quarter century ago proudly dubbed itself “Linebacker U of the South.” That designation is long gone in College Station and the position, too, has been de-emphasized because of spread attacks on offenses across the country requiring more defensive backs on the run.
Linebacker has been a revolving door at A&M the past couple of years – the most recent example being three players in last year’s depth chart entering the transfer portal – but perhaps that will settle a bit with Durkin now coaching the linebackers in addition to his coordinator duties. The Aggies return two starters in Cooper and Russell, but each is expected to be pushed for playing time by Martrell Harris and newcomers York, Sanford and Davis.
