Hall's lawyers appealed the sentence to the state's highest criminal court, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, which upheld it earlier this year Hall’s lawyers had issued a “no contact” letter to the Brazos County sheriff asking that Hall not be contacted by outside sources without the lawyers’ permission, the filing says. But despite that letter, Ross was able to approach Hall in the high-security wing of the jail, sit down with him and speak with him on camera for over 17 minutes.
