A group of high schoolers in Texas are going viral after raising over $260,000 to allow their school's 80-year-old janitor to retire.
Callisburg High School seniors Banner Tidwell, Marti Yousko, and Greyson Thurman decided to raise money for the janitor known as Mr. James after he was forced to come out of retirement amid the rising cost of living, according to a report."It's just so sad seeing an 80-year-old man having to do things an 80-year-old shouldn't have to do," Tidwell said.
Three seniors at Callisburg High School noticed a need within their school’s community and quickly responded. In a mere 12 hours, they had raised roughly $10,000, and most of that money had come from other students at Callisburg, the report noted."It's just amazing," Principal Jason Hooper said."The need that was met because of three kind kids ... all of students who have pitched in to help that need."
