I have been in spaces where my perspective resonated with constituents solely because I looked like them, and I know that alongsidethere is untapped political power that could be attained simply by people seeing themselves reflected in their state leadership.
Organizations like ours are helping to build a progressive pipeline of diverse women candidates ready to run for office up and down the ballot, from your local school board to the governor’s office. We are proud to beacross the state and country. Annie’s List has trained women candidates and campaign staffers in Texas for two decades. We help women step into positions of leadership and prepare to govern during some of the most difficult times our nation has seen.
That’s why we’re doubling down on training efforts in border communities and working to meet Texans wherever they are. From El Paso to Fort Worth to Brownsville, we are committed to conducting over 30 trainings this year to ensure women all across Texas have the building blocks to run and win. There is opportunity here in Texas, and now is the time to act. This is why Annie’s List prioritizes bringing young women like Sophia into our organization, to ensure that we’re not only training the next generation of leaders but uplifting them.I am young, a Latina, and a woman.
