Garcia: State Sen. Roland Gutierrez says DPS, Abbott ‘obfuscate’ on Uvalde massacre

Gutierrez saw Considine’s statement as a personal attack on his integrity and he let DPS know about it.

The day of the shooting, Gutierrez was in Austin for a planned fundraiser. At 1 p.m., he received a call from a friend whose husband works for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Gutierrez’s friend said there had been a shooting in Uvalde, and it appeared that one child had been killed. Gutierrez spent that night at Uvalde’s Willie de Leon Civic Center, which had been turned into a reunification center for families whose children were at the school.

Gutierrez is frustrated with Abbott not only over the governor’s unwillingness to call a special session, but also over how Abbott is allocating state resources for Uvalde.
