Liliya Colston immigrated to the United State from Ukraine decades ago. She still has family in Ukraine and is horrified by Russia's invasion of her home country.
PUBLISHED 3:04 PM CDT Mar. 28, 2022SAN ANTONIO — Liliya Colston left Ukraine decades ago for America. She says she hoped Russia waging war on Ukraine was a bluff. So for her, this war is personal, with a number of family members who can’t leave the country.
She's currently working with the Ukrainian Society of San Antonio to purchase medical supplies and other humanitarian aid for her home country More than 20 years ago, Colston immigrated to the United States. As a children’s art teacher, her days are usually creative and colorful. But Russia’s attack on her home country of Ukraine has been a dark cloud.
“We showed the world our strength under these very tragic circumstances,” Colston said to an audience.
