The national medical regulator has approved the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for children aged six months to five years old.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration has provisionally approved a paediatric dose of the vaccine, which contains a lower concentration of the active ingredient.This follows TGA provisional approval of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for children in the same age group last month.
The Australian Government will now wait for advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation about whether to roll out this vaccine to children under six.
