Homeowners in Eton Wick, Berkshire, say they cannot go out into their gardens due to the water and foul smell
Homeowners living near aPeople in the village ofin Berkshire say the Roundmoor Stream, which connects with Thames Water’s sewage treatment works in Slough, has been blighted by regular sewage releases when the facility becomes overwhelmed by heavy rainfall.
“I have seen toilet paper and other waste floating down the stream. The water sometimes has a blue-grey colour and it stinks to high heaven,” Ms Seaton added.: “My garden is my pride and joy. Now my garden is underwater. Water firms are permitted to discharge untreated sewage into waterways during periods of heavy rainfall.that the rising water level in the Roundmoor has caused its banks to collapse, which has led to flooding across fields, footpaths and Dorney Common located along the stream.Flooded Dorney Common in Eton Wick
However, EWWG lead Laura Regazzacci said that this year volunteers will not enter the stream due to the sewage pollution.Thames Water said it will work alongside the Environment Agency to carry out weed clearance at the Roundmoor and Boveney streams in Eton Wick in June and September.
