Queensland has recorded four new cases of COVID-19 as the state continues to suppress the latest outbreak of the highly contagious Delta strain.

Crowds at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on the opening day of the mass vaccination hub, where the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination is being distributed.“Who would have thought a week ago we would have been in this position today?” Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said. Ms Palaszczuk said a snap three-day lockdown in Cairns, sparked after a taxi driver was infectious in the community for 10 days, would lift at 4pm on Wednesday as planned.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming out and getting tested,” Ms Palaszczuk said, revealing 4476 tests were performed in Cairns in the past 24 hours.There are now 156 active cases in Queensland - with 120 linked to the Indooroopilly cluster - with 23,099 tests performed in the past 24 hours.Asked when Queensland might get drive-through vaccination clinics, Ms Palaszczuk said “we will look at all options”.
