Authorities in Kuala Lumpur halted the three-day Good Vibes Festival in 2023 after videos showed The 1975's frontman Matty Healy kissing his band mate.

A three-day music festival was cancelled in 2023 after The 1975 's frontman criticised Malaysia 's anti- LGBT Q laws and kissed a band mate on stage.

British pop rock band The 1975 are being sued by the organisers of a Malaysian music festival which was shut down after the group's frontman kissed a male band mate onstage and criticised the country's anti-LGBTQ laws. The band had reportedly agreed to abide by the restrictions and were paid $US350,000 to perform in 2023.

At the festival in 2023, Healy told the crowd in Kuala Lumpur he had "made a mistake" by agreeing to play in Malaysia."I don't see the f***ing point of inviting The 1975 to a country and then telling us who we can have sex with."Healy later cut the set short, telling the crowd: "All right, we gotta go. We just got banned from Kuala Lumpur, I'll see you later."
