Cameron Smith will finish the PGA Tour season and is expected to feature in September’s Presidents Cup before weighing up a switch to Greg Norman’s mega-money LIV Golf series.
The Open champion is also likely to spearhead the Internationals assault against the United States at Quail Hollow, which will feature a strong Australian flavour as they try to wrest the Presidents Cup. Smith is currently No.2 on the FedEx Cup standings behind the world’s top-ranked player and Masters champion Scottie Scheffler.But the Presidents Cup, run by the PGA Tour, looms as a huge marker of the Australians’ loyalty, with Smith and Scott assured of spots on Trevor Immelman’s International team and Leishman scrambling to qualify.
