The disturbing revelation comes as police bring forward a special safety operation following a series of ugly brawls at Henley Beach and Glenelg. Know the news with the 7NEWS app: Witnesses have told 7NEWS a large crowd gathered to watch a pre-planned fight between teens in the Barossa Valley, with tickets sold to spectators and an extra fee charged for an edited video clip. Dunn knows the devastating consequences all too well.

Her teenage son suffered a serious brain injury after a brawl at Nuryootpa High School Oval.

“My son, normally, I would have thought, would have tried to defend himself, but he didn’t even try because, allegedly, the student had a knife in his waistband,” she said. Dunn is speaking out to warn parents of a dangerous new “fade fight” trend on social media, where teenagers are tagged and expected to fight.

“And that’s instigating for the two of them to fight each other. So, pretty much, if you’re tagged in a fade, you’ve got to fight. Sort of, that’s the gist of it,” she explained. One fight was advertised with the heading “Fade Tomorrow at 4pm” along with the names of the fighters.

“And some of these kids are from, you know, one area to another area, and they’re meeting somewhere in the middle or whatever, because now they’re obligated, and it’s disgusting,” Dunn said. Parents and students have told 7NEWS that filming the fights is easy, even at school, with teens finding ways around mobile phone bans by bringing burner phones or breaking the pouches meant to keep devices locked away. Mother Cheyenne Dunn’s son was injured in a fight.

The violence has prompted police to bring forward Operation Jericho, designed to prevent street crime and public disorder.with violence also erupting down the coast at Glenelg, where a huge crowd gathered to watch what appeared to be a pre-planned fight. A bottle was thrown at an innocent woman trying to intervene.

“Governments can’t eradicate idiocy. And, frankly, when young people decide to beat each other up, it is completely unacceptable behaviour and we should all be, you know, uncompromising in our desire to see it leave our society,” he said.
