NRL: Greg Alexander reveals his reaction to James Fisher-Harris' release from the Penrith Panthers
Drifting across the field and feigning to play it short to Justin Olam, who already had two tries by that point, Lachlan Galvin split a pair of Parramatta defenders and was away.
Now, on Saturday afternoon, Galvin lines up against the defending premiers and, potentially, his soon-to-be halves partner in NSW Blues Origin representative Jarome Luai. Take his debut against Canberra in a 32-12 loss. There were no tries or try assists but Galvin commanded the ball, finishing the game with 50 possessions compared to 25 for halves partner Jayden Sullivan and 17 for Aidan Sezer.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise either given Galvin captained the Australian Schoolboys and was man of the match in last year’s Schoolboy Cup final. There will be question marks over Luai’s ability to step out of Nathan Cleary’s shadow and away from the Penrith system, although he went some way to quelling those when he called his own press conference to announce the news earlier this year.
