A set of bedsheets in the background of dark web videos led to the arrest of a childcare worker for allegedly abusing 91 young girls across NSW and Queensland.
Detectives first spotted one of the alleged abuser’s videos in the dark corners of the internet nine years ago and began scouring the frames of this video and others for clues.
The alleged victims attended 10 childcare centres in Brisbane between 2007 and 2013, and from 2018 to 2022, and a centre in Sydney between 2014 and 2017. Police sources with knowledge of the investigation, but not authorised to speak publicly, told this masthead there were few clues in the alleged videos as faces and locations were kept out of frame.
Police have identified 87 Australian children, including 64 from Queensland and 23 from NSW, and their families have been informed.A further four children were overseas and police were working to identify them.“This is chilling news,” she said, adding that all child abuse was abhorrent.
