Business owners and staff have described the shopping spot as a ‘lovely community’.
A Nottinghamshire shopping spot full of independent businesses, both old and new, is described by those involved as a ‘community’. In Mansfield, shoppers can find the Handley Arcade which is home to a range of independent retailers and businesses.
“We have our regular ones who have their own sewing and craft businesses. Customers who come in for bits like ribbon and thread and things for everyday use. I’ve been here for eight years now and there are customers that have been coming as long as I have been here and still come into today. Lesley Parker has been a part of the Legends Boxing Academy for 18 years. The 57-year-old who is the receptionist and bar manager shared that the independent gym is like a family.
She continued: “The people that come here a lot of them who train the kids and adults do it voluntarily. It built my confidence up when I came here. It’s a great family it’s not a gym like your Pure Gym, it’s a family.” The new cafe, Yums & Bean is bringing a “city vibe" to the town and so far it’s been a hit with locals. The cafe, run by Amy Henshaw, 30, launched on July 22 and has been really ‘positive’ since.
