Princess Kate’s L.K. Bennett jacket served an unexpected purpose, highlighting a viral social media campaign aiming to raise awareness around young peoples’ mental well-being.
When the Princess of Wales stepped out with Prince William to host the Royal Foundation event, Exploring our Emotional Worlds, on Wednesday, she offered a lesson in dressing with a purpose. Outfitted in a black top and black trousers, Middleton added a pop of color in the form of a bright yellow L.K.Bennett blazer in honor of #HelloYellow, a campaign that was launched to support the YoungMinds charity and raise awareness about young people’s well-being for World Mental Health Day.
Dubbed “Issy Star,” they were gifted to the royal by Sarah Renton, a Maidenhead Rugby Club coach whose 17-year-old daughter Isobelle Phipps died by suicide earlier this year. Designed by Phipps’s cousin and owner of EarSass, Sophie McGown, with proceeds from the purchase of the jewelry going to the mental health charity, Brave Minds.
