Microsoft is officially retiring Internet Explorer after 26 years. 9News

Internet Explorer was launched by Microsoft in August of 1995, and what came with essentially changed the world.Microsoft says their new browser, Microsoft Edge, will formally take Internet Explorer's place."On June 15, 2022, the Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be retired, meaning it will go out of support. Afterwards, the Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be disabled on specific versions of Windows 10.

While it won't automatically uninstall, opening Internet Explorer on your computer will redirect the user to Microsoft Edge. Organisations who utilise Internet Explorer will have the option to enable "IE Mode" in Microsoft Edge to continue using legacy websites and apps.An official countdown to the browser's retirement can be found on Microsoft's website.
