The Expendables wasted 2 talented performers.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary The Expendables 4 brings its mercenary crew back to the big screen for another mission, but also wastes the talents of two fantastic martial artists in the process. Arriving in theaters nine years after The Expendables 3, The Expendables 4 failed to reinvigorate the ensemble action franchise with poor reviews and the series's lowest opening weekend yet.

Both Jaa and Uwais are beloved martial arts stars, and The Expendables 4 does a passable but not spectacular job of utilizing their talents in the action. Jaa's fight scenes are energetic but hampered by fast editing, while Uwais gets in a solid final showdown opposite Jason Statham. However, Jaa and Uwais are not the only skilled martial artists in The Expendables 4's cast, with Dan Chupong and Mike Moeller both appearing in the high-octane sequel.

Dan Chupong's role in The Expendables 4 is even more of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance, with Chupong playing a minor character named Bai kidnapped and brought aboard the ship of the villainous Marsh a.k.a. Ocelot in the third act. Bai is promptly executed by Marsh almost as soon as he arrives.

How The Expendables 4 Should Have Utilized Chupong & Moeller's Talents Like Tony Jaa, Dan Chupong has made a name for himself in Thai action movies, with his filmography including 2004's Born to Fight, 2014's Vengeance of an Assassin, and the Ong Bak prequels opposite Jaa.

Casting Chupong and Moeller as right-hand men of Marsh or Uwais's villainous Suarto Rahmat would have teed them up for more significant fight scenes with Stallone, Statham, Jaa, or Uwais that made better use of their talents. The first Expendables pulled off that exact trick in casting B-movie martial arts star Gary Daniels as The Brit, with Daniels facing Jet Li and Jason Statham in an enthralling fight in the film's tunnel battle.
