New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb has spent more than $11,000 of taxpayer cash on alcohol and hundreds of gift boxes to hand out to visiting VIPs.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Comm Webb spent $85 each on 50 bottles of Pokolbin Dry Gin from Hope Estate, which had a customised"Commissioner's Gin" label. The total of the gin bill was $4,250, but it does not end there.Add shipping costs and then the total taxpayer cash spent was $11,339.30.Comm Webb was on Wednesday afternoon accused by Upper House MP Rod Roberts - and a former police officer - of using the gin for herself and her staff.

"In the meantime, I am reassured by the fact that I have always acted honestly and in the best interest of the NSW Police Force and the people of NSW."
