The Philadelphia Eagles rallied past the Green Bay Packers, 34-27, at Lambeau Field Thursday.
ASSOCIATED PRESSThe Packers didn't force a turnover for the first time this season. It all added up to a rough Thursday night for the Packers, as Philadelphia came into Lambeau Field and defeated Green Bay, 34-27.Here’s the good, bad and ugly from Green Bay’s perspective. The Packers were hell bent on getting Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams more involved after he entered the game ranked just 42Adams had six catches for 107 yards — in the first quarter alone.
“They were playing one-high and we had some opportunities down the field to him. underthrew him on the one there in the fourth quarter unfortunately, the DB made a nice play on, but I was looking his way all night.”For the third straight week, the Packers scored a touchdown on their opening drive. This time, Green Bay went 89 yards in just five plays and 2:18.
The 6-foot-3 King had the length to deny the 6-foot-3 Jeffery the 50-50 balls he’s so good at winning. And because King was faster than Jeffery, the veteran receiver never could separate. The Packers’ two-time MVP quarterback had his finest game of the year, throwing for 422 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Rodgers was under duress all night, but did yeoman’s work to escape pressure and make one big throw after another.
“I know we better fix it,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said of his run defense. “Otherwise teams, that’s going to be their blueprint to beating us, they’re going to run the football and grind it out. We’ve got to do a much better job to get teams, stuff the run in those early downs, to get them in those longer yardage situations. Tonight we did not do a good job of that.”The Packers reached the red zone seven times, and came away with just three touchdowns .
Green Bay didn’t trust its running game to get a single yard. Instead, they put everything on Rodgers and the passing game — and they came up short. “We’ve been a top red zone defense the last couple years, and that’s something that we take pride in,” Bradham said. “During the week we put in that extra time and extra work studying together and doing extra walk-throughs and stuff like that and really focused in on the red zone. We know how important it is.”“We’ve got to get that fixed and we’ve looked at it and talked about it and stuff,” Packers special teams coordinator Shawn Mennenga said Wednesday.
