It is held on the last Sunday of every month
A monthly farmers market in Tameside has been ranked among the best in the UK, according to the Sunday Times. Ashton Farmers' Market takes place on the last Sunday of the month outside the historic market hall on Bow Street.
The Sunday Times compiled the list of "markets worth stocking up on" for fresh and local produce at the weekend. The Ashton-under-Lyne farmers' market was praised for its "organic honey, oven-warm meat pies and extra gooey camembert" on offer on the stalls.Ashton Market Hall has a long history of trade in the region, also noted in the write-up.
For those wanting to give it a try, the market is held on the last Sunday of every month - so is taking place this coming weekend, Sunday March 26. It opens from 8am-1pm. This is not the first time the farmers' market has been named among the best. It has previously been voted best in the north west by the Observer Food Monthly magazine.
