2024 is shaping up to be a big year for live music across Greater Manchester
It almost goes without saying but 2023 was a massive year for music here in Manchester. As well as our usual bill of major music festivals, which included a sold-out Parklife festival featuring performances from Aitch, The 1975. Skrillex and Wu-Tang Clan & Nas, we we're also treated to some showstopping performances across our major live venues.
Bosses have already confirmed that house superstars Fisver and Chris Lake will bring their Under Construction Show to the Manchester festival, and it’ll be the first time the show has taken place outside of America having debuted at Coachella last year. In 2023, Parklife saw performances from the likes of Tve 1975, Aitch and Wu-Tang Clan & Nas, so expect the same high calibre of homegrown talent and major international acts when the lineup is announced later this month.
Last year saw more than 200 free activities held including an array of exciting performances and participatory moments, including showcases from the BBC Philharmonic, Manchester Factory International, Sounds From The Other City, and community dance groups. Dates and lineup for 2024 will be announced soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
New Order will take to the stage on Saturday, August 24, and will be joined by a huge supporting bill including Johnny Marr and Róisin Murphy for a full day of musical magic. Blossoms will headline the next night at the venue, in what will be the group's 'biggest' headline show of their career, filling an entire day with support from Inhaler, The K's, Seb Lowe and Ttrruuces.Tickets: New Order here and Blossom here.
The four-day festival will feature a mix of daytime, evening and late-night shows from some of the most legendary and emerging venues across Greater Manchester. Whilst the BBC is keeping tight-lipped about the lineup for 2024, the event promises to ‘feature unique performances you won’t see anywhere else, as well as DJ sets from emerging and established acts’.
