The gun toting criminals who brought terror and destruction to Lancashire's streets
While shootings are rare in Lancashire, each year a small number of offenders take to the streets armed with deadly weapons. Some set out to settle gangland scores, others to intimidate. Some hold a misguided belief they are protecting themselves from dangerous criminals.
After losing in a scrap with the victim on July 11, 2021, Matheson contacted a friend - Quinn - before they armed themselves and made their way to find their target. The bullet injured Robinson's arm before going through his abdomen and fracturing his hip. On August 5, 2021, they were all handed life sentences by Mr Justice Turner. In statements read out in court, Ms Hachem's family described how their lives had been torn apart following the death of their 'shining star'.
The victim, 31, was taken to hospital but although his injuries were serious they were not life-threatening. At just after 1.15am police were then called to a report that a 39-year-old man was being treated at hospital for what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the leg and the injury was not life-threatening.
Another of the gang, Ryan O’Donnell, was arrested at and address in Corinthian Avenue, Manchester, after his DNA was recovered from the trigger of the black and silver handgun. Cannabis, cocaine and dealer debt lists were found when police raided that address. Another of the thugs, Jay Thomas Carney, was arrested on the same day at an address in Fairy Lane, Manchester, after his DNA was recovered from the trigger of the shotgun.
In the aftermath Gordon told his boss on EncroChat that he had lost his Grand Power – and sent him an image of a newspaper story about the shooting. His hand was visible in the picture and a finger print expert compared his palm with the palm in the photo and said both were Gordon’s.
