It's been described as the best beach in Yorkshire
You know what it's like in the UK, as soon as the sun starts shining millions of people appear from nowhere and descend on your normally peaceful beach. The quest to find somewhere perfect that isn't crowded is a challenging one, especially if you factor in a dog and normally tough restrictions on where you're allowed to take him or her.
It's great for windsurfers and surfers and also for budding historians. The cliffs were formed around 150 million years ago and as a result, the area is popular with fossil hunters. There are also WW2 pill boxes nearby.Unusually the beach is also well known for being a naturist spot but this isn't officially condoned and there are signs in the area saying people who do decide to take their clothes off and frolic in the sea could be prosecuted.
Unsurprisingly it's a real hit with reviewers with one writing: "Most amazing beach in total contrast to those of Scarborough and Filey. Apart from the wonderful Lucy's shack where you can get refreshments and beach knick-knacks, it is totally uncommercialised.
