Now 31, Faisal Saeed Al Mutar is speaking to theipaper on the 20th anniversary of the invasion from his home in New York. He still remembers the collapse of Baghdad clearly mollyblackall reports:
In Iraq in early 2003, 12-year-old Faisal only had access to two state-run television channels. Both told him the same thing: that the US and UK troops which had invaded in the south were being swiftly defeated.
“That kind of conflict, between US troops and the Iraqi military on the streets, continued for about three days. The house was shaking,” he says. “Some people carried flowers. Me and my family were just shocked,” Faisal recalls. “On the highway where our house was we saw so many destroyed cars. The US tanks were clearing the road.”
