"Little moments like that make me honoured and proud to put this jersey on for my family back in Samoa and for my mum and dad, because the sacrifice they made — to move us to New Zealand and then Australia for a better life — it paid off.
He's never failed to answer the call because, before he was from New Zealand and before he was from Australia, he was from his father's village, Sataua, which currently counts somewhere around 900 proud residents. "It's a humbling experience when you go from there to New Zealand and Australia where they have normal houses."
"I showed my daughter where dad was from and I'd love to take the other kids there as well, for them to have the humbling experience I went through." Wearing the green and gold would have been an honour, no doubt about it.
