The Koenigsegg CC850's Paint Is More Than Five Times Thicker Than That Of A Rolls-Royce | Carscoops carscoops

paint. Koenigsegg says that the car undergoes a 25-step painting process to achieve its extraordinary finish. There are so many layers of paint and clear coat that the detailer’s paint thickness gauge maxes out at over 39.4. To put that into perspective, the thickness of a Rolls-Royce’s paint reads about 7.1.

After the car is given a thorough wash, Kosilla and his team begin the delicate process of polishing the entire exterior of the car, ensuring that the paint sparkles and shines just as well as it did when it first rolled out of the paint booth. It’s then time to clear and touch up the gorgeous interior, which is clad primarily in bright red leather and features a host of exposed carbon fiber panels.

Worldwide production of the CC850 will be capped at just 70 units, all of which will feature a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 pumping out 1,385 hp when running on E85 or 1,185 hp on regular pump gas. This engine is coupled to a unique Lightspeed transmission that can be driven as either a six-speed manual or used as a nine-speed automatic.
