Fired by Amazon after organizing a protest over coronavirus-related working conditions at the beginning of the pandemic, Chris Smalls returned to lead his former warehouse in Staten Island to become the first Amazon warehouse to vote to unionize.
Before turning to manual labor to support his family, Smalls spent time as a rapper and once performed with Meek Mill. In the first six months of 2022, the NLRB saw a 57% increase in union filings over the previous year.
