We're digging deep for the backstory on Dar-Benn, the MCU's latest big bad, and assessing the Kree situation
While Marvel Studios has been keeping plenty under wraps about the Captain Marvel sequel The Marvels, there are a few things we either know or can anticipate about the film. For instance, fans have already met the three heroes who are teaming up for this story: Carol Danvers , Monica Rambeau , and Kamala Khan . If you need a refresher on what you need to know before seeing the movie, check out our useful cheat sheet.
For the answers to those questions, we can look for clues in the trailers and the other marketing materials released so far, as well as the pages of Marvel Comics. Dar-Benn appears in the comics, but in a very different form than the one we’re getting in The Marvels. Like Mar-Vell the character was originally male, but the MCU version is female. Dar-Benn was first introduced in an issue of Silver Surfer back in 1991.
