An image of some TheMarvels merch might've just given fans their first look at Monica Rambeau's MCU costume 👀😮
The Marvels tie-in merchandise may have revealed the first look at Monica Rambeau's superhero costume. Directed by Nia DaCosta, the upcoming project was going to be Captain Marvel 2 and focus on Carol Danvers, but Marvel Studios reworked its narrative to include Monica and Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel. This called for a rebranding, hence the title, The Marvels.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY While Marvel Studios has already revealed Carol and Kamala's respective superhero counterparts, Monica has yet to properly debut her public persona. For context, the character has had many aliases in Marvel Comics, including Spectrum and Photon. Now, a new image of some The Marvels tie-in merchandise may have offered fans their first look at Monica's superhero get-up as she joins Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel.
This doesn't mean, however, that the aforementioned merchandise is fake. While Marvel hasn't shared any official look for the film, suppliers are provided mock-ups and even official looks ahead of a project's release for item production. It's also worth noting that first looks at MCU and big IP characters have been spoiled by merchandise before. Given this, it isn't outside the realm of possibility this will actually be Monica's superhero costume in The Marvels.
For now, it's best to take this image of Monica with a grain of salt. Unless Marvel Studios officially releases a first look at the character for The Marvels, it's safer not to get too invested in any of these unofficial images. Luckily, things are less complicated for Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel in this instance, as the shirt features their looks from the last time they were featured in the MCU. For context, Captain Marvel made a surprise cameo during the Ms.
