Dar-Benn Marvel Comics History Explained Dar-Benn first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1991's Silver Surfer #53, introduced as a General in the Imperial Kree Army alongside his ally Ael-Dan. Dar-Benn and Ael-Dan had grown tired of the rule of then-Kree Emperor Clumsy Foulup and devised plans to assassinate him and rule in his place.
Trailers for The Marvels have confirmed that Dar-Benn is the owner of a bangle very similar to the one worn by Kamala Khan. In Ms. Marvel, Kamala's mystical bangle unlocked her latent mutant ability and was speculated to have previously belonged to a Kree.
Dar-Benn has been gender-swapped for the MCU to allow Zawe Ashton to portray a powerful female villain.
