Sure, pedicures are great. But demand for this new hybrid service, combining the practical and pampering, has exploded.
After spending months of last year training for a marathon, my feet began to look like something lifted from the pages of a cautionary tale.
A magical combination of practical and pampering, medical pedicures combine the lush aspects of a pedicure with the practicality of a visit to a foot clinic. Having practiced general podiatry for 10 years before moving into the medical pedicure space, Biedak says demand for the specialist hybrid service had been slowly growing over the years, but surged in the wake of COVID-19 as people began to prioritise long-term preventative care options amid a global health crisis – a trend that’s been seen across the health and wellbeing sector.
For Blonde Tiger Pedicures founder Erin Margarethe, who is a licensed nail technician specialising in clinical pedicures, her service is as much about offering long-term education to clients as it is about making feet look and feel good. Both Biedak and Margarethe say the colder months are the perfect time to get your feet in check before sandal season hits.
