Following the show's cancelation at Netflix, Mike Flanagan has revealed what The Midnight Club season 2 would have been about. Primarily based on Christopher Pike's novels of the same, the horror series centered on a group of terminally ill teenagers living in a Seattle hospice who tell each other scary stories every night to distract from their situations, though begin to expect the location to host something sinister.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Sticking to his promise, Flanagan has taken to his Tumblr to reveal super detailed The Midnight Club season 2 plans. With everything from answers to the nature of the Shadow seen by certain patients to the fates of surviving characters from season 1, Flanagan left no stone unturned for what his vision was for the now-canceled Netflix show, including how it could continue past season 2.
It’s a shame we won’t get to make it, but it would be a bigger shame if you guys simply had to live with the unanswered questions and the cliffhanger ending. I loved making this show, and I am so proud of the cast and crew. Particularly our cast, who attacked this story with incredible spirit and bravery each and every day. But for now, we’ll put the fire out, and leave the library dark and quiet. To those before, and to those after. To us now, and to those beyond.
Flanagan's The Midnight Club season 2 did come with some brighter spots, as well, as Chris Sumpter's Spencer would "ride the swell of antiviral advancements" in the '90s surrounding HIV, ultimately no longer classified as terminal by the end of the season and going back home.
The Midnight Club Story Plans Could've Extended In Season 3 One of the more interesting takeaways from Flanagan's detailed The Midnight Club season 2 story plans was his note that it would've ended with Cheri, the lone member still at Brightcliffe, telling the story of her friends to a new table of patients, who would serve as the new series leads.
