Very often, one of the first questions I get from CXOs, board members, security leaders and IT practitioners alike is:"Why are there so many breaches when cyber spending is at an all-time high, and am I at risk?"
Because cybersecurity's growing role in managing risk is many-sided , I wanted to share my perspectives on this topic in a series of articles that will focus on key aspects surrounding managing cyber risk. I'll share observations and key insights based on my experiences interacting with CXOs, board members, security leaders and IT practitioners as well as practical advice to help serve as a guide to organizations that are navigating this journey.
In my experience, the best way to realistically assess cyber risk is to focus on four specific areas by asking the following questions: The responses to these questions will provide the basis for accurately assessing your organization's cyber risk, which can serve as the foundational framework upon which to build your organization's cybersecurity strategy.Once leaders have determined the answers to these questions, they should turn their attention to developing the strategy and solution. If an organization determines that adopting a zero-trust architecture is right for them, they will need to prepare accordingly.
