Polish has been named as the most commonly spoken language after English in most areas of Nottinghamshire. The Office for National Statistics has produced a map based on data compiled through the census held in 2021.

The map shows the variety of languages spoken across the country, with the figures being broken down by local authority area in Nottinghamshire. The data shows that after English, Polish was the most commonly spoken language in Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Gedling, Mansfield, Newark and Nottingham. Other areas had a broader spread in terms of the different languages spoken, with Rushcliffe having a high percentage of people speaking French, Spanish and Panjabi. The Nottinghamshire area where the most people speak English is Ashfield, with 98.89% of those aged 3 or over putting it down as their main language.Below are the most commonly spoken languages after English in all areas of Nottinghamshire.
