Many restaurants will also not be open

Many pubs, restaurants and shops across Nottinghamshire will be closing on the day of the Queen's funeral. The businesses will be shut on Monday, September 19, as a mark of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and to allow staff to watch what is set to be a major historic occasion.

Fast food giant McDonalds announced it will be closing all of its restaurants from midnight until 5pm so staff can pay their respects to Her Majesty. The majority of Greggs shops will be closing although a small number, operated by franchise partners, may remain open.Indian restaurant MemSaab, in Maid Marian Way, will also be shut.

Other venues closing include Gilt in West Bridgford and Bingham, The Refinery and The William Gunn in West Bridgford, Southbank City in Nottingham and the Ram in Newark. Great Northern Group said all its venues will be closed except for Trent Navigation in Meadow Lane. A spokesman said: "We had a lot of enquiries asking us to show the coverage on our new big screen in The Big Shed so we will be open there.
