Tasty treats at the end of a night out can take hours to walk off

As the month of August kicks in and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe gets underway, there will be plenty of late night drinks had and takeaways consumed across the capital. However, if you overindulge in the food and drink department, there can be more to deal with the day after than just a hangover.

You can use the Omni calculator to check the facts, which is a feature that calculates just how many steps you'd need to take to burn calories depending on weight, height and walking speed. These figures were based on a 5ft6in person that weighs 10 stone and walks at an average pace. However, the normal night out involves more than just drink - as the munchies strike after a night on the town. And your favourite takeaway foods can sometimes hit harder in terms of calorie intake and time to burn off.

And even more calories are at stake when it comes to the popular late night snack - a pizza. A Domino's large pepperoni pizza knocks you back 2,642 calories which is 78,688 steps. If you tried walking this off, it would take you 679 minutes - or 11 hours and 19 minutes alone to get those steps in.
