TheOffice alum Zach Woods says he never wants to play Gabe again as hopes for a revival continue among fans. 'That poor man, I would be happy to never spend another instant in his skin.'
The Office star Zach Woods says he never wants to play his character again. The comedy series that popularized the mockumentary format, The Office was an NBC workplace sitcom that ran from 2005 to 2013. Inspired by the BBC show of the same name, the series ran for nine seasons and explored the lives of employees in the Scranton branch of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Woods played Gabe Lewis in the show, a newer character who came on board in 2010 when Dunder Mifflin was acquired by a company called Sabre. Gabe was Jo's right hand and remained in Scranton to ensure that the branch was up to their company standards for some time. Gabe had an often-hilarious run as a supporting character, portraying a quirky and sometimes unsettling corporate suit similar to Woods' character on Silicon Valley.
"I loved playing Gabe, but that was my first job really, TV job. That poor man, I would be happy to never spend another instant in his skin. Even though I have great affection for him. It was a fun part to play because it's a funny show, but to be Gabe is not something I would wish on anybody, especially on Gabe.
Why The Office's Gabe Was Disliked Woods' connection to his character on Other People is sweet, showing that sometimes actors grow attached to their characters long after their roles are over. Though he admits a great affection for Gabe, it's clear that the thought of returning to the corporate character makes Woods as uncomfortable as it would make audiences seeing him again, since the character was widely disliked.
Despite his role as the unlikable weirdo of The Office, which occasionally turned the viewers and apparently even the actor himself against the character, Gabe had some of the show's funniest and most memorable moments and was sometimes the highlight of the later seasons. In particular, his "Shut up about the sun!" tirade during season 8 stands out as a funny bit that has since been immortalized as an Internet meme.
