It's doing the opposite of what we thought would happen Netflix TechNave
To no one's surprise, Netflix's Password Sharing charge was met with many unhappy customers. However, it was surprising to learn that Netflix's initiative on cracking down on password sharing is turning out to be quite successful.
According to The Times, analysts are expecting to read a new upcoming report from Netflix on its latest numbers. The Times say that there should be an increase of 1.8 million new subscribers in the last financial quarter. It's considered to be an improvement as last year, Netflix lost almost a million subscribers.
Ever since Netflix introduced its new password-sharing charges, Bloomberg Second Measures reported that there was a 236% growth for new Netflix subscribers between 21 May and 18 June. From these figures, we are guessing that most people would rather get their own Netflix account instead of paying extra member fees which are cheaper.
For your information, the extra member is RM13 per month and only the Premium package can add up to two extra members who are outside of the household. However, getting the Mobile and Basic plans are RM17 and RM28 per month so it's an odd thing that most won't settle for being an extra member.
