The National Electricity Market is returning to a version of normal as the regulator steps back, but that’s not going to fix the problems of price and supply.
Sorry, but don’t think Australia’s energy crisis is over. Unfortunately, it can’t be suddenly fixed because thenow deems it viable to give up its temporary takeover of the National Electricity Market from early Friday morning.
The regulators and the government will be cautiously watching the immediate impact today when they allow generators to go back to setting prices as part of a staged return to a version of normality. “We know that a well-functioning national electricity market is key to ensuring the lowest-cost energy to Australian homes and businesses,” he said on Wednesday.
