Peter Dutton has slammed Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his devotion to an Indigenous Voice to Parliament, with claims he has “failed” and accusations the referendum took too much attention away from other issues.

The Leader of the Opposition did not hold back on his thoughts of the PM’s handling of the Voice, as he lashed the amount of money put behind the campaign and division he believed it had caused.

"When he talks about this being a simple change it’s not, a new chapter in the Constitution is very serious."Mr Dutton said the aftermath of the referendum will be a time to heal as he listed what he believed to be negative impacts from the Voice. “He’s been distracted over the last 16 months completely obsessed with the Voice and he’s just not been across the details and if he doesn’t understand the details, how can Australians?”

He also took aim at Mr Albanese’s response to the attacks on Israel and subsequent protests in Australia. “People know that he doesn’t get across the detail and I think the Prime Minister’s really misled and been deceptive in this campaign.”
