Charlotte Arena’s tips to survive the latest round of remote learning were “get the work done and keep smiling”.

Charlotte’s mother, Sharon Arena, said communication between schools and families and attention to mental health were much improved this lockdown. “Many schools, principals and teachers are genuinely doing their utmost to support students in lockdown, and have responded quickly as each new lockdown occurs,” he said. “But to think that remote learning ever matches the quality and richness of face-to-face classroom teaching and learning is naive.”

Tina King, acting president of the Victorian branch of the Australian Principals Federation, said Victoria had plenty of data on what did and didn’t work in remote learning.

Parent beauty therapy can also resume for treatments where masks can be worn. Community support can return to training in metropolitan Melbourne.
