Tom Springfield, best known as the songwriter for some of The Seekers greatest hits, has died at age 88.

The post went on to explain that "being a very private person, the news [of his death] somehow went under the radar and has only now come to light now".In a post on The Seekers Facebook page, the surviving band members – Athol Guy, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley – paid tribute to Tom. Tom wrote The Seekers biggest hits Georgy Girl, The Carnival Is Over, I'll Never Find Another You and A World of Our Own, earning him the unofficial title of the "fifth Seeker".
