Health Minister Greg Hunt said being stuck on the Diamond Princess could 'create anxiety' or trigger other pre-existing mental health conditions and announced a new helpline.
"We realise that the situation on the ship is very stressful for those who are there," Mr Hunt told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday.
Mr Hunt said he was working to get the dedicated mental health line up and running on Thursday and all Australians quarantined on the Diamond Princess would be contacted and offered support. "We recognise that the stress is real, and we really feel for those people who are in that situation," he said. "It is a difficult situation."
