DOHA, Qatar—The most consequential U.S. men’s national team game in two decades is one coach Gregg Berhalter has been preparing for his entire career. He had no ideaas a 21-year-old that he would one day face the Netherlands for a spot in the World Cup quarterfinals.
But on Saturday, in a win-or-go-home match at Khalifa International Stadium, the soccer philosophy he most admires will be turned against him.
