It boasts connections with King Charles - and rock royalty Pink Floyd
An English village, which boasts an idyllic location for stay-at-home holiday Brits, can also shout out about its television, music and literary connections. Grantchester, which is about 30 minutes from Cambridge, also has four pubs, its own its TV show and a connection to Pink Floyd, as well as chocolate box cottages and lush green surroundings. The Grantchester Meadows are a popular spot and you'll often find visitors and locals swimming in the River Cam or enjoying a riverside picnic.
The four pubs are The Red Lion, Rupert Brooke and The Green Man all serving tasty food and with perfect spots for a drink. A short walk down Broadway, outside the village, you'll find the fourth pub, The Blue Ball Inn. The detective show, starring variously James Norton, Tom Brittney and Robson Green, tells the story of the village's Anglican vicar who teams up with a detective inspector to solve baffling crimes. Filmed in the village, the show is set in the Grantchester of the 1950s. Parts of the drama are also shot in various spots in Cambridge and London.
