Greater Manchester Police are assessing footage after a Manchester Evening News investigation
Police are 'assessing' a Patreon account allowing paying subscribers to access videos sexualising women on the streets of Manchester city centre after an M.E.N investigation.
The account was removed after the M.E.N approached Patreon for comment. A Patreon spokesperson said the platform has 'zero tolerance for works featuring non-consensual intimate imagery'.The platform's guidelines state it is 'paramount that Adult/18+ creators demonstrate consent in all works between adult participants or characters' and this consent must be given when participants are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
In the Patreon's biography, the owner wrote: "What do I offer here? All my videos Early Acces in UNEDITED, RAW and EXCLUSIVE version.Three videos were uploaded in April 2024 showing over 15 minutes worth of footage of women being followed and their bodies being zoomed in on as they walk or sit down in Manchester's busiest nightlife district. All the women appear to be unaware they are being filmed.
When the M.E.N questioned YouTube over similar 'Manchester nightlife' videos previously, the platform said the footage did not violate their community guidelines and refused to remove them. There, Chief Inspector Stephen Wiggins told us officers had reported intervening when they saw suspicious behaviour that could be linked to the videos, adding he was 'reassured' cops are 'taking it seriously'.
