One book change may help season 2.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary The Wheel of Time season 2 will continue Prime Video's adaptation of Robert Jordan's best-selling book series, but it will also be improved by a divisive change season 1 made to the source material. The first season of The Wheel of Time deviates from the books on multiple occasions, and these departures will bleed into season 2's storylines.
Although Amazon's The Wheel of Time adaptation has sparked criticisms with its controversial book changes, they could actually help the series in the long run. In particular, one storyline will benefit from doing away with Jordan's blueprint: Mat's. Mat Cauthon leaves his friends behind in The Wheel of Time season 1, episode 6, even though his book counterpart accompanies them to the Eye of the World.
Wheel Of Time Can Heal Mat Immediately Although The Wheel of Time has been criticized for separating Mat from the rest of its main characters, this could actually improve his storyline in season 2. In The Wheel of Time books, Mat spends even more time suffering the effects of the ruby-hilted dagger he found in Shadar Logoth. The knife continues to affect his personality, giving him very little opportunity to win readers over.
In The Wheel of Time books, Mat is freed from the dagger's taint by the Aes Sedai. The fact that season 1 leaves him traveling toward the White Tower is promising for his character. While he may miss out on some Wheel of Time storylines he's present for in the books, Mat will be back in his right mind for at least part of season 2. This will allow viewers to get to know him without the dagger corrupting his mind.
